In about three hours I'll officially be on vacation! No big plans; we might take a trip down to Missouri to visit Emily's old stomping grounds, but otherwise I'm hoping to go out on some day trips to zoos, state parks, museums and such. That's about all I have money for ... but I'm still getting almost three weeks away from my full time job, and I'm hoping to recharge the batteries, not to mention sleep on a normal human schedule for awhile.

Also, I'm hoping to finish revising my "Radio Red" manuscript, so it's ready to be sent out; it seems like every time I sit down to work on it something diverts my attention. This hasn't exactly been sitting in the office writing type weather, but if a guy wants to publish, he has to plant seat in chair and revise.

The part time jobs go on, so I'll be popping back in to post my column, and checking my e-mail, too -- but I really don't think I'll be able to keep up on my flist, too much outdoor stuff to do. It's only about once a year that I don't at least read what everyone posts. :-( If anything big happens, let me know! Otherwise, I'll be back near the end of the month, and if anything interesting happens on this side ... you'll probably see it in a column. :-)
SLIGHTLY OFF THE MARK

When I was a kid, I thought the Apollo Moon missions were launched to celebrate my birthday. )
