Back years ago before I got utterly sick of the business end of law practice, I was representing a party (not the City of Oakland, but they were a defendant, too) in the Oakland Firestorm. I will never forget sitting in a deposition of a 911 dispatcher. The plaintiff kept playing bits of tape of the 911 call this guy got from a fire victim, and this poor guy was just haunted through the whole thing. Heartbreaking.
