No, it was working fine. The truth is -- and don't let this out -- that while things really do tend to go wrong when I try to do maintenance, I know more about the actual process than I let on. We must have our comic persona, after all!

I agree that line drying is better in most cases ... except towels. Towels, wash clothes, and such just don't feel right when they don't go through the dryer, and I prefer my sheets in the dryer, too. Emily hates line-dried jeans, but I can live with that. The rest of my clothes I was already hanging to dry anyway, so it hasn't been as big of an adjustment as it could have been.
