My condolences. I had a client some years ago (actually, her dad was my client, but she was essentially his agent) who was involved in politics in her small (but famous for all its wine) town. From what she told me about it once when we were sitting around waiting at settlement conference, politics in even smaller cities and towns sounds like it can get absolutely nasty.
